MATERIALITY OF SPACE - encountering space and materiality
For this project, in a group of 5, we had to first choose a building as our site study. My group had chosen Tropicana Metropark, the sales office for the company Tropicana, as the building had an interesting design adopting an opened concept, one that is different from the usual office space seen. We were very honoured to have the deputy general manager, Mr Jesmond to tour us around the building while at the same time brief us on why the building has been built in the way it was during our site visit.

This project had given me the exposure to a variety of building materials through physical means at the building site and via the internet. I also had a better understanding of how each building materials and its physical as well as chemical properties would affect the user in the space as the building materials play a very significant role in creating the certain mood and ambience in a space.
